The History and Legacy of Poggio Capponi

Five Centuries of Culture and
Agriculture in the Heart of Chianti

The Fattoria Poggio Capponi has its roots in the Florence of Renaissancean era marked by the patronage of the family Medici and prominent figures such as Lorenzo il Magnifico. This period saw Florence turn into a cultural melting pot, hosting masters of the calibre of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci e Sandro Botticelli.

Founded by the prestigious family Capponi, the Fattoria is located 25 km from Florence, in a strategic position on the hills of the Chiantia detail that gave the estate its name: 'Poggio Capponi'.
From the very beginning, the farm has been characterised by its dual function: agricultural production centre with cultivation of vine, olive tree and wheatand a holiday retreat. The farmers who settled there have perpetuated these working traditions for generations.
Historical documents such as the Cabreo of the late 18th century provide detailed evidence of the existence of the Fattoria, outlining the properties and assets of the Marchesi Capponi.
Over the last century, local manufacturing activities have gained prominence and continued to flourish to this day.

From over five centuries, the Fattoria Poggio Capponi dominates from its heights a landscape of hills, woods, vineyards and olive groves, offering a breathtaking view typical of this region.
