The Legacy of Poggio Capponi

In the 1930s, the Florentine industrialist Giuseppe Rousseau Colzi, fascinated by the rolling hills and the beauty of the Tuscan landscape, he decided to purchase the property. At that time, the Fattoria became a perfect destination for holidays and rest, enhanced by hunting trips and festivities, always keeping the link with agricultural traditions alive.

After the Second World War, the Rousseau Colzi family continued to run the farm with passion. Giuseppe was succeeded by his son Giovanni, who, together with his grandson Michelangelo, renewed its commitment to agricultural activities.

These were years of major investments aimed at modernising facilities and production. At the same time, the agritourism activity, now managed by Gioconda Rousseau Colzi, which allows visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the green valleys and soft hills of Montespertoli.
The Fattoria Poggio Capponi has also been a film setting: in 1982 it was the location for 'La notte di San Lorenzo' by the Taviani brothers and in 1994 for some scenes of 'The Young Indiana Jones', created by George Lucas.

Today, the fourth generation of the Rousseau Colzi family continues the management of the Fattoria Poggio Capponi, from the excellent production of wine and oil to farmhouse hospitality, offering a unique experience to taste the products of Chianti and enjoy the green landscape of its hills and vineyards.
